We are Rhiza Babuyile. We are committed to our communities. We are devoted to empowering and enabling the people and communities of South Africa.
We are determined to make an impact.
At Rhiza Babuyile we believe that our holistic developmental model leads to optimal socio-economic results historically underserved communities. By combining programmes relating to healthcare, education and the green economy, we provide communities with access to critical services, to which they had limited, or no access before. Our passionate team works around the clock to ensure that the narrative of significant economic inequality in South Africa changes within our lifetimes.
Rhiza Babuyile was created in South Africa in 2011 between the merger of the Dutch Rhiza Foundation (2010) and the South African Babuyile Community Development Trust Foundation (2005). Together they wanted to build a more just and equal South Africa! The driving force behind this foundation is Alef Meulenberg. After making several trips to poor countries, the enormous inequality in South Africa affected him so much that he decided to take action and founded the foundation. Rhiza Babuyile stands for impact equality, sustainability, local involvement!
We are a dynamic organisation that believes that sustainable development is reached by using various tested economical models into our core programmes in Education, Healthcare and the Green Economy. By doing this we not only contribute to solving the major socio-economic issues South Africa is facing, but do more, as we create jobs in the process.
Rhiza Babuyile is a Section 21, registered non-profit organisation registered with the Department of Social Development and a Section 18a/ Public Benefit Organisation with SARS.
